The Oklahoma City Thunder continued what has been a busy two-day stretch for the team when it sent cash considerations and pick No.40 to the New York Knicks for the No.38 pick, which it used on guard Ajay Mitchell, who spent last season playing for UC Santa Barbara.
Mitchell, a 6’4 guard, averaged 20 points per game during his junior season, and also averaged four assists, and grabbed four rebounds.
OKC is likely to use one of its three two-way slots on Mitchell, who is expected to spend most of the 2024 season in the G-League with the OKC Blue.
Mitchell probably caps off the 2024 class for Oklahoma City. With only one pick heading into the draft, Sam Presti clearly saw value in the older prospects later in this draft, and he made sure to secure Mitchell, along with Dillon Jones.
