NBA Draft Prospects Host Youth Basketball Clinic in NYC

On Tuesday, June 25, over 20 NBA Draft prospects teamed up with the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA, the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), and New Era to host a youth basketball clinic at the NBPA facility in New York City. More than 40 boys and girls aged 14 and under, primarily from Carmelo Anthony’s BlackOps organization, participated in the event.

The young athletes engaged in a series of NBA Combine-style drills, testing their strength, agility, and speed. They also received coaching on core basketball skills and fundamentals from the draft prospects.

In addition to the clinic, the draft prospects joined a discussion with NBPA Executive Director Andre Iguodala, NBPA President and Pelicans guard CJ McCollum, NBPA Player Engagement Director Shaun Livingston, NBA’s Kathy Behrens, and Utah Jazz forward Taylor Hendricks. The conversation covered various aspects of life on and off the court as a professional basketball player.
