City of Norman to dedicate street to Trae Young

The City of Norman will honor one of its most well-known and accomplished citizens with a street dedication ceremony. On November 5 at 3 p.m., a new street in front of the Young Family Athletic Center (YFAC) will be officially renamed Trae Young Drive to recognize the basketball star’s contributions to the city.

Trae Young grew up in Norman and attended Norman North High School. He became a standout player at the University of Oklahoma before being drafted into the NBA in 2018. He now plays for the Atlanta Hawks and has quickly become one of the league’s most exciting and talented young players.

The street dedication ceremony is just one of many ways Norman shows its appreciation for Trae Young and his family. Through the Norman Forward quality of life initiative, the City of Norman is opening the YFAC – a state-of-the-art Multisport and Swimming Complex – in early 2024. The ceremony is open to the public and will take place at the new roundabout in front of the YFAC. All attendees are encouraged to park at the Embassy Suites at 2501 Conference Drive, south of the YFAC. The Young Family Athletic Center will be open 30 minutes following the ceremony for an early preview to the public.
