Short Q&A with Marzett:
Q: What motivated you to start cinematography and photography?
A: I honestly wanted to start doing something creative. Photography and cinematography just gave me that outlet to do so.
Q: Where do you want to go with it? What’s your “end goal” in all of this?
A: Ultimately, I want to end up in California making films and creating opportunities for others. My end goal is the become the biggest African-American actor that has ever lived. I want to create films that touch millions of people and inspire others to follow their dreams. I also want to bring back a sound stage to Oklahoma to build up film opportunities here.
Q: Who’s your idol in your industry?
A: I have many idols but the three that really catch my attention are Spike Lee, Ava Duvernay, and Denzel Washington.
Q: What genre of film are you into?
A: I’m into both comedy and drama. I make more comedy films than I do drama because it comes easier to me when I write but I’m trying to branch out more into the dramatic field.
Q: How do you expect to separate yourself from the normal cinematographer?
A: Consistency. I refuse to let up and let someone surpass me because I’m not giving it my all. I will give every ounce of energy in my body to become the best in this industry. I am going to keep chasing the dreams no matter how hard times get.
