Bohemian Rhapsody: A Gem For Those That Don’t Know

The movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” wasn’t a must-see for my fiancèe and I, but it seemed interesting to us, so we went ahead and gave it a try. Also, I was intrigued by the backstory of a band I’ve heard of but never really educated myself on.

It was a very good movie but after reading many reviews of the film, it became evident that the director actually did a poor job capturing prime events in the band’s come-up. Being such a long film, (two-and-a-half hours), you’d think that every detail of the band’s history would be explained in depth, but many events were barely mentioned and often times ignored.

As the movie started out documenting the band Queen, it slowly turned into a biopic of Freddi Mercury, which I really picked up on around the halfway point of the movie. The other band members took a significant backseat role in the movie’s focus.

It was a good, informative movie for my fiancèe and I, who aren’t familiar with much of the band’s history or discography but for a long-time Queen fan, this movie was probably very disappointing.
