In the wake of Isaiah Hartenstein’s hand injury, Oklahoma City signed former Alabama center Alex Reese.
Reese, who played overseas last season after playing four seasons for the Crimson Tide will fill the final roster spot for the Thunder. Reese averaged six points per game in his final season with Alabama in 2020-21.
The likelihood of Reese playing a large role for the is low, but with Hartenstein going down for the first handful of games this season and Jaylin Williams also hurt it was important for OKC to add someone with size to play behind Chet Holmgren.
I would expect Dillon Jones to slot in as the backup center to start the season, but clearly Sam Presti sees something that he thinks is worth a roster spot.
