SGA highlights historic individual and Thunder season with First-Team honors

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander just collected his second-career All-NBA First Team honor, announced Wednesday afternoon by the NBA.

SGA’s All-NBA season featured him in 75 games, leading the Thunder to become the youngest team in NBA history to clinch a number one seed and the youngest team to win and sweep a playoff series as they defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 4-0 in the first round of the Playoffs. SGA averaged 30.1 points, 6.2 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in 34.0 minutes per game while shooting 53.5% from the field.

Shai was third in the league in scoring and second, in steals, joining Michael Jordan and Stephen Curry as the only players in NBA history to average at least 30 points and two seals while shooting better than 50% from the field.

SGA also became the third player in league history, following the footsteps of MJ and Allen Iverson, to post a 10-game streak of 25-plus points and 2-plus steals. He scored 30-plus points on 51 occasions, which led the NBA, and became the first player in Thunder history to average 30-plus points in back-to-back seasons.

It was a productive season, to say the least, for the kid out of Hamilton, who set career-high averages in assists, steals, and field goal percentage.

The two-time NBA All-Star and Western Conference Player of the Month for December has reeled in his second-consecutive First Team All-NBA selection, becoming the third player in team history to do so (Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook).

The Thunder now have 19 All-NBA selections and 10 First-Team All-NBA selections, both of which lead the NBA since the Thunder moved to OKC in 2009-09.
