On Wednesday afternoon, Kendrick will have the distinct honor of addressing the student body at Millwood Public School. From 12:45 to 1:30 p.m., students and faculty alike will have the opportunity to hear Kendrick’s insights into the profound impact of Negro Leagues Baseball on American sports and society. Millwood Public Schools, located at 6724 N. Martin Luther King Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73111, eagerly anticipates this enlightening and inspiring event.
Continuing his visit on Thursday morning, Kendrick will take the stage as the keynote speaker for the Rookie League Foundation of Oklahoma’s esteemed “Stepping Up to the Plate” speaker series. Held at the prestigious Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, this event promises to be a highlight for baseball enthusiasts and history aficionados alike. Kendrick’s address is scheduled for the morning session in the Oklahoma Fidelity Bank Club, offering a captivating glimpse into the legacy of Negro League Baseball and its relevance in today’s world.
Following his keynote address, Kendrick will be available to the media from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at 2 S. Mickey Mantle Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73104. Parking will be available in the Joe Carter Lot on the northwest corner of Reno and Joe Carter Aves.
Considered one of the most influential figures within the baseball industry, Bob Kendrick has served as president of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo., since 2011. Under his stewardship, the museum has seen unprecedented growth, and the organization continues to not only celebrate the game’s past but to provide opportunities to underserved communities to strengthen its future.
