About a year ago, Andre Roberson initiated informal practices with the OKC Blue, an unofficial mentorship role where the seasoned veteran extended his expertise to young NBA G League players.
As time progressed and Roberson’s involvement intensified, he eventually formalized his commitment by signing with the OKC Blue, the G League affiliate of the OKC Thunder. Throughout 14 NBA G League games, he contributed to Kameron Woods’ squad.
This marked a significant chapter in Roberson’s attempted NBA comeback, showcasing his defensive prowess. Although he did not return to the Blue this season, the former defensive star recently revealed on the Courtside Club Podcast that he is set to make a comeback to professional basketball.
Roberson is now set to embark on a new chapter, joining a team in Dubai to represent the Philippines in an invitational tournament. In expressing his motivation, he mentioned, “bringing it full circle,” emphasizing that this endeavor is a pivotal part of his journey. He shared on the podcast that he wants to give professional basketball “one last shot before I hang up the shoes,” emphasizing his desire to leave the game with a sense of satisfaction.
His team, Strong Group-Philipinas was a participant in the Dubai International Basketball Championships and coasted through the competition, before falling to Al Nasr Club in the championship game after a 3-point buzzer-beating bucket.
Roberson finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 steals in the final.
