The Oklahoma City Thunder have officially signed Mike Muscala.
If you thought this signing happened over a month ago, you’re not entirely wrong, but it’s essential to read the details on those initial reports.
Keyword: agreed.
The Thunder originally agreed to a one-year deal with Muscala on June 30, one day after the team declined Muscala’s $3.5 million option for the 2022-23 season.
On Thursday morning, Muscala officially signed a one-year veteran’s minimum deal worth $2.6 million.
This deal is coming after Muscala underwent season-ending ankle surgery in March. Before that, Muscala averaged 8.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game while shooting a career-high 42.9% from 3.
Muscala, 31, will serve as a mentor for OKC’s top draft pick, Chet Holmgren (a fellow Minnesota native).
