J. Cole to Play for Rwanda in Basketball Africa League

We’ve all seen the videos of J. Cole playing pickup against NBA stars during the offseason, and in each of those videos, we’ve witnessed him holding his own.

His quest to play some professional basketball has come to fruition with the opportunity to play for the Rwanda Patriots BBC in the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League.

J. Cole, 36, is in Rwanda and is in quarantine, preparing for the 12-team league.

When J. Cole’s name is called, you’ll be hearing the name Jermaine Cole (his birth name). Before his hip-hop career took off, Cole was a star at Sanford High School in North Carolina and walked on at St. John’s but decided to focus on his music before playing a game.

J. Cole’s official signing is expected to be on Thursday, according to sources.

He’ll play in three to six games for Rwanda, with the first game being on Sunday, two days after his album releases. Rwanda will play the Nigeria River Hoopers.
