The NBA announced that Giannis Antentokounmpo and Tobias Harris have received Player of the Month honors.
Giannis Antentokounmpo and Tobias Harris received the first Player of the Month award in the 2018-19 season for their conferences.
Both players provided outstanding performances throughout October and November to lead their teams to the top of their respective conferences.
Eastern Conference
Antentokounmpo was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month.
Antentokounmpo averaged 27.3 points, 12.9 rebounds, six assists, and 1.5 steals per game in October and November with the Bucks. This is the second time that Antentokounmpo has received this award. He won the award in March during the 2016-17 season.
Antentokounmpo sits on the cusp of top five in points and rebounds per game. He also averages 19 points in the paint per game and holds the top spot in that category.
The Bucks currently hold the league’s second-best record of 15-7. Milwaukee sits in second place in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee has won 6-4 of their last 10 games.
His play this season has become more consistent in this new system under Mike Budenholzer. Antentokounmpo has been raising his stock early to put himself into MVP considerations.
As him and the team continue to progress and dominate, Antentokounmpo could be in the MVP ranks at the end of the season.
Western Conference
Harris received Western Conference Player of the Month honors.
Harris averaged 21.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game throughout October and November. This is Harris’ first career Player of the Month award.
Led by Harris, the Clippers sat in the top spot of the Western Conference and had a 15-6 record.
Harris was recently named the Western Conference Player of the Week at the end of November. For a team that does not have a “superstar,” Harris has been playing like a star that the Clippers rely on every night.
Harris and the Clippers have shocked the league with their hot start and remain in the top teams in the Western Conference. The Clippers have won 8-2 of their last 10 games. Los Angeles (16-7) is currently tied for first place with the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference.
This Clippers team has racked up wins this season and that is a testament to how they have been playing as a unit. When Harris is productive for Los Angeles, it is a plus for the team every night. Harris is one of the Clippers’ top scorers that continues to get better each game.
