When OKC’s Skyline Becomes the Canvas

On Thursday night, something special happened in Oklahoma City.

As traffic moved steadily through the downtown streets, the city’s skyline itself became part of the celebration. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s personal logo, his newly broken record, and the Converse logo ran in sequence across the side of the Arvest Building for all to see, projecting yet another historic moment for the kid from Toronto and one of the league’s brightest stars.

For a city that has grown in tandem with its basketball organization, it all felt fitting. And with the closeness that defines the OKC community, this immersive collaboration lighting up the skyline felt only right.

Behind the projection was Big League City Outdoor Media, a homegrown company using large-scale building projections to transform the way brands, athletes, and cities share their biggest moments.

Big League City operates with one simple but powerful idea: turn the city itself into the canvas, embracing the community-driven spirit that defines Oklahoma City — a small-town feel within a rapidly growing city.

Big League City Outdoor Media specializes in large-scale projection advertising, a form of outdoor media that transforms buildings into massive digital displays.

It’s a modern twist on the traditional billboard. These projections allow brands to occupy spaces temporarily and move fluidly across the city, often aligning with major cultural moments and accomplishments. For a growing city like OKC, that level of flexibility opens the door to something bigger than traditional advertising.

It becomes a spectacle.

“We started Big League City with a simple vision: bring non-traditional outdoor media to Oklahoma City,” said founder Baruc Lara.

“Our goal is to deliver the most premium out-of-home inventory to top brands in the OKC market. Real estate sits at the core of what we do — developing bold, high-impact media assets on the city’s most iconic buildings, along its busiest corridors, and within its most vibrant neighborhoods.

At its heart, BLC is about transforming city space into revenue-generating assets while contributing to the energy and identity of Oklahoma City.”

Lara, a native Oklahoman and graduate of the University of Oklahoma, has become an integral part of Oklahoma City’s evolving landscape. In many ways, Big League City reflects a desire to give back to the community that raised him.

“As a young entrepreneur who grew up here, this city shaped me just as much as I’ve watched it grow. Every stage of OKC’s development has mirrored my own journey. There was never another place I wanted to build something meaningful, so I went looking for an opportunity, and that path led to BLC.

Now, we’re working to grow our city through urban development, cultural attraction, and new economic opportunity,” Lara added.

Projecting large-scale visuals across Oklahoma City’s skyline is still something relatively new, especially at the scale BLC is operating. But as the city continues to grow and reach new milestones — alongside the continued success of the Thunder and Gilgeous-Alexander — BLC aims to grow with it. One thing, however, is clear: this industry isn’t going anywhere.

“Real estate sits at the core of everything we do, developing bold, high-impact media assets. This type of outdoor media is a new and innovative way to continue that growth.

This form of media is on the rise, not only here in OKC but across the country. As cities develop, they have to find new ways to attract energy and cultivate districts. This is one of the ways that happens,” said Lara.

As Oklahoma City continues to grow, moments like Shai’s historic scoring run are becoming more than just sports milestones. They’re becoming part of the city’s visual identity.

And if Big League City continues to have its way, the skyline itself may continue telling those stories.
