CeeDee Lamb’s contract dispute with the Dallas Cowboys has finally reached a resolution.
The star receiver has finalized a four-year contract extension worth $136 million with Dallas, as reported by NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero on Monday. This deal includes $100 million in guaranteed money and a record-setting $38 million signing bonus for a wide receiver, according to Rapoport and Pelissero.
Lamb’s new contract places him as the second-highest paid receiver in terms of average annual salary, earning $34 million per year, just behind Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings, who earns $35 million annually on his four-year deal.
Throughout the summer, Lamb has been notably absent from the Cowboys, skipping OTAs as part of his strategy to secure a new contract before the season began. His absence has kept him at the center of Cowboys-related discussions, especially due to the prolonged nature of the negotiations. The process wasn’t without its bumps, particularly when team owner Jerry Jones remarked in early August that he didn’t “have any urgency to get it done,” which prompted a brief, unhappy response from Lamb on social media.
Jones later sought to manage the situation and mitigate the public relations fallout. As the preseason drew to a close, signs pointed toward a deal being finalized before the start of the regular season. The agreement was reached on Monday, ensuring quarterback Dak Prescott will have his top target ready for the start of a critical year.
In his four seasons with the Cowboys, Lamb has established himself as a dynamic playmaker, amassing 395 receptions for 5,145 yards and 32 touchdowns, including a standout 2023 season with 135 catches, 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns. Lamb is undoubtedly a cornerstone of the Cowboys’ offense, and unlike some of the team’s previous big contracts, there was never any doubt that Lamb was worth the investment.

Great!
