The Cowboys are coming off a 86-65 win over Charlotte on Monday night. The all-around team effort was on display against the 49ers. Five Cowboys ended the night scoring in double-digits.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a bad loss (90-71) to their cross town rival, Tulsa, and there are a lot of questions surrounding first year head coach Paul Mills and his team. ORU is not a very good three point team or even a great shooting team all-around. In order for the Golden Eagles to pull off an upset in Stillwater, they may need the worst game out of Mike Boynton’s team.
With all the controversy going on within the program, look for senior guard Kendall Smith (14.5pts) to continue to carry the scoring load for the Cowboys until Jeffery Carrol returns. There is still no word on how long the Cowboys will be without Carrol. Boynton told ESPN that there is no update on his status as of now. He’ll keep us updated when he learns more.
Keys to Victory
The Cowboys will need to work overtime in the paint against the Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles front court is led by senior center Albert Owens, who is averaging 15 points and & 5 rebounds.
The Cowboys need to hit their shots. If the Cowboys can get the easy shots to fall, it should be an easy W.
Keep up the intensity on defense
With four players out due to suspension, Boynton can only ask so much from his current team. Just win
Storyline of the Game
Cowboys assistant coach Scott Sutton will have an emotional night as he coaches against his former team for the first time in two decades. Sutton coached the Golden Eagles for 20 years. He had a combined record of 328-247. He won three Summit League tournaments, 5 regular season Summit League titles, and was a three-time Summit League Coach of the Year.
Tip off is at 7pm. At Gallagher-Iba Arena.
