Black sports history fact #13

Let’s switch it up a little bit, to something more recent… Well today, Feb. 13, 2016 Hampton University’s men’s lacrosse team will host its varsity game at 12:30 p.m.

Hamtpon is actually the first HBCU men’s lacrosse team since Morgan State in 1981. The only difference is, Morgan State was a Div. II program, making Hampton the first HBCU with a Div. I program.

Lloyd Carter is the team’s head coach. Carter was on that historic Morgan State squad better known as “the Ten Bears.” Lacrosse has been a part of his life for years. Carter was also the coach of Hampton’s club team.
