Bench Play: Thunder rout Cavaliers 121-106

Saturday night featured two teams that are headed in two different directions. The Oklahoma City Thunder are playing their best brand of basketball this season, while the Cleveland Cavaliers are headed towards a lottery pick.

The Thunder stretched their winning streak to five after routing the Cavs 121-106.

BOX SCORE:

Was this game ever in question? Well, this is the NBA so I suppose but with the way the Thunder have been playing, and considering a frustrated Cavaliers team that’s in the middle of a three game skid, the outcome wasn’t surprising in the slightest.

OKC’s defense was good, despite Cleveland shooting 45.9 percent on the night and 46.7 percent from three. They still managed to force 14 turnovers which made Cleveland’s shooting percentage nearly irrelevant.

Let’s give OKC’s defense a B- on the night, only because of Cleveland’s shooting percentage. Their offense is what solidified this game for them, and more specifically, the bench. OKC’s bench outscored Cleveland’s 54-19.

Terrance Ferguson specifically, is a player highly reliant on confidence and once he sees the ball go in the hoop, he can really get started. That’s what he did tonight, scoring 13 points on 5-10 shooting and 3-of-8 shooting from three.

Again, OKC is (20-15) on the season and are now five games in front of the San Antonio Spurs for the seventh spot in the Western Conference.

Next up: Monday night in Philly to play the struggling, (23-14) 76ers that have lost four-straight games.
